Your Orthodontic Office Visit
Orthodontic visits have different purposes depending on whether you are attending a consultation, starting treatment, having routine adjustments or completing active treatment.
Records and treatment planning
Photographs, digital scans and radiographs may be used when clinically indicated. These records support diagnosis and allow the orthodontist to explain reasonable treatment options.
Routine treatment visits
During active treatment, visits are used to monitor progress, adjust appliances, review hygiene and cooperation and make changes when teeth are not responding as expected.
Finishing and retention
When active treatment goals are complete, braces or other appliances are removed and retention begins. Retainer instructions and long-term follow-up should be explained before treatment ends.
